Beautiful Beaches
Albany has a number of fantastic beaches. The two main beaches in Albany are Middleton Beach and Emu Point. Both have barbeque facilities for picnics and vast shady lawn areas with public playgrounds. There are also cafés at both locations. Other beaches within 30-40 minutes drive from the City centre include: Sandpatch, Muttonbird Beach , Nanarup Beach , Cheynes Beach and the beautiful Little Beach, located at Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve.
Ayres Park
Situated at Middleton Beach it is one of Albany ’s best public playgrounds. Complete with big slides, great swings, see saws, enclosed sandpits with digging tools, ladders and castles, basketball courts and huge grassed areas with barbeque facilities ideal for picnics. The Park lake attracts all sorts of birds. Ayres Park is located on Adelaide Crescent , Middleton Beach .
Magnificent Walk Trails
There are numerous walk trails in and around Albany . Albany is considered the most beautiful coastal destination in Western Australia and is a drawcard for nature lovers because of its proximity and integration with the natural environment. Inside each of our villas is a comprehensive guide to 20 of the most popular walks located within 30 minutes drive from the City centre. The guide outlines a map, length, duration, degree of difficulty and special features for each of the 20 walks. You are welcome to take the guide with you on your walks but please return the guide to the villa for others to use. The boardwalk at Middleton Beach provides stunning views across Middleton Bay , King George Sound and Princess Royal Harbour .
Amazing Coastline & National Parks
Your holiday would not be complete without a trip to Torndirrup National Park (off Frenchman’s Bay Rd ) where you will find the Blow Holes, The Gap and the Natural Bridge . Other National Parks in the region include: The Stirling Ranges and the Porongurups, to the North of Albany; West Cape Howe to the West of Albany and Gull Rock, Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve and Waychinicup National Park to the East of Albany.
Great Cycling Trails
Albany has some great cycle paths with fabulous views. Inside the villas are free Go Cycle Amazing Albany Maps. Help yourself to a map. The maps outline some of Albany ’s scenic cycling routes. There are cycling routes around harbours, past pristine beaches and routes that give you glimpses of wildlife and wildflowers. Our villas have a lockable store room off the carport to keep your bikes secure. There are also a few cycle hire shops in Albany – see below.
Fantastic Fishing
There are numerous great fishing spots in and around Albany – too many to name them all! The main species that are caught in our local waters include herring, skippy, whiting, salmon, silver bream, flathead, tailor, mulloway, shark, groper, queenie, sampson fish, rock species, squid, sarfish, pike, salmon trout and black bream. There is a Great Southern Fishing Guide in each of the villas’ outlining the fishing spots on a map. It would also be worth your while speaking to the fishing experts at Albany Rods & Tackle, Stirling Tce, Albany . Ph: 08 9841 1231. Your fishing gear can be stored in your own private storeroom attached to the villa.
Bird Watching
If you enjoy bird watching, the walk around Lake Seppings is worth your while. There are over 100 land and water bird species. Great wetland views with fantastic sunsets from the lookout and bird hide. The entrance for the 2.7km walk is off Golf Links Road (The road to Emu Point from town) and takes about 1 hour to complete. Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve is another good spot for bird watchers.

Albany Forts Museum & Memorial
Learn about Albany ’s maritime and military heritage and connect with the ANZACs. The departure point for 30,000 troops leaving Gallipoli in 1914 and the place of Australia ’s first dawn service. Located on Mt Adelaide and Mt Clarence. Open daily 9am-5pm . Ph:08 9841 9369.

- The Riverside Bush Trial is a 2hr Wagon Train tour departing Tues & Thurs at 2.30pm which consists of travelling along the banks of the Kalgan River , stopping for hot damper, billy tea & coffee at Clydes Tearooms and wine tasting at Montgomery ’s Hill Vineyard.
- The Cruise Wine Wagon Dine Tour is a 4hr tour departing Sun & Wed at 1.15pm . Boat departs Emu Point harbour and cruises up the Kalgan River and then transfer to a horse pulled wagon and travel along the banks of the Kalgan River stopping for wine tasting, homemade soup, damper and billy tea & coffee.

Albany Wind Farm
A popular tourist attraction where you can marvel at the technology that has created some of the largest turbines in the Southern Hemisphere that harness the wind to make electricity. There are sealed tracks and coastal lookouts offering views of the wind farm, the rugged coastal cliffs, the Albany Harbour and the city centre. The Wind Farm is about 6km from the City Centre off Frenchman’s Bay Rd. Entry is free!
Whaleworld
Albany ’s Historic Whaling Station. The last operating Whaling Station in Australia . Consists of guided tours, boarding a whale chaser, 3D movie theatre, art, photographic and memorabilia galleries.
